Dear ArGest community,

It is with sincere regret that I must inform you of the BRU/ArGest Tape application status. In November 2021, when the decision was made to acquire the technology, it was our noble intention to salvage this software. Other World Computing saw the value the application could provide to the existing user base.

At the time of the Tolis Group closure, we believed that ArGest and BRU could be restored with an even higher level of service. Two years since the acquisition, we have put forth our best intentions and efforts to restore and enhance the software for the benefit of Tolis/BRU customers.

We now realize we have fallen short of our promise to deliver a viable solution. While there was progress made with ArGest, we have learned that there is far more that needs to be resolved and improved in this application than revealed during our previous due diligence. Even with the significant improvements made to date, there are just too many challenges that have not enabled us to deliver a product or support that our customers expect.

After continued development investment, the difficult and disappointing decision has been made to freeze ongoing support for ArGest.

While the application performs as intended in certain situations, it does not address the broader base of customers’ needs to perform in an environment of updating OS versions. We continue to explore potential options to support BRU in the future. But for now, the application will be retired until there is a suitable method to deliver the expectations of read/write and restore with the BRU File system.
